The Pitch & Gameplay Design
Duck, Duck, Boom! was both my very first game project, but also my very first pitch. The original idea was intentionally designed to fit into our 5-week limit without losing meaningful gameplay. This means that the main focus was on the core of the game and trying to design it small, but as potent as possible.
In the end, we kept most things from the original pitch and tweaked it to create a balance between the events and mechanics of the game.

The players are able to hit the zombie ducks in the arena so that they turn into egg-shaped bombs that will launch in the direction the player is facing. This is the game's core mechanic, simple yet powerful. This is used by the players to take out each other.
As an additional mechanic, we designed behavior for the zombie ducks. The zombie ducks will target the nearest player and hunt him until the player is out of his sight. If the duck however gets very close to the player, it will attack. If the player doesn't hit him back in time so that the zombie ducks attack succeeds, the player will take damage. This represents the PVE of the game.

The idea was to create a chaotic party game where the players always need to look behind their back. We as a team were very happy with the end result and ended up with a creepy, yet charming high-tempo brawler.
